The word blockchain was mentioned in Satoshi Nakamoto’s original article titled Bitcoin published in 2008. Although blockchain is not mentioned in this article as a word, an underlying technology component of cryptocurrency is defined as a series of data blocks that are cryptographically chained together. Bitcoin is the first application of blockchain technology.
Nakamoto claims that a man born on April 5, 1975 and living in Japan was in the first correspondence. However, due to his decision to document bitcoin in English and his mastery of this language, the general belief in the blockchain community is that Nakamoto is of non-Japanese European or North American descent. Since the blockchain and therefore the bitcoin network are transparent, anyone can view everything Satoshi Nakamoto does in bitcoin. It is known to have around one million bitcoins, although it is currently not certain.
